Cyn drove in and we went into Castro to see Bill Langley who was doing an SPCA adoption event at a pet store there. Had a nice visit with him and I will see him I think on Tuesday for something...
Went into the pet store to support them and Cynthia talked me into buying a body harness for Buck to make him look more official when I try to take him up there. He quite likes it, and although I haven't walked him in it yet, seems he responds better on leash with it over his collar. If that flies count me happy as hes pulling me up and down the hills and I'm paranoid of falling. Also got him a bone and a cookie that said I Love Castro (hee hee)We ran across the street to a small Dim Sum place and ordered 1 of everything pretty much and brought him a few pieces. He said OH FABULOUS when he realized what was in our hands. 3 pieces he ate 2 and a half.
Cynthia had gone to the farmers market out where she is and brought him a power green juice shake with bananas and kale, raw almond milk and a bunch of stuff which he turned his nose up when hearing kale, but it was delicious and he drank the whole thing. we only brought half of it so I have another serving for tomorrow when I go back. Probably all he will eat today. He was saving the rest of his tray yogurt and a half piece dim sum for later. From now on Im bringing larger portions to encourage him to not horde.
oddly, while he will slurp down this stuff, and drink the shakes like its nobody's business, he had difficulty with the thickened water they give him. It sticks in his throat and he had a bit of a scare trying to drink it not sitting up fully.
Got him into his chair and took him to the roof. If was very bright, and he was a little cold. Didn't stay long. He was all excited to get back to his room. He just wants to sleep and said so. I know sleep = healing, and Im fine with that as long as he is seriously eating. He got himself out of his chair and into bed. he was dizzy sitting in bed.
I talked to his nurse and got them to take him off all things opiates. They were giving him vicodin, and they've switched it to tylenol unless extreme pain......because.....
He got out of bed in the middle of the night and went to the elevator, then fell on his knees. Arlene said he heard someone calling his name, but he told me he thought the dogs were there and he was going see them. Specifically Bella. I asked if he was thinking of Bella maybe because of the picture...hes like what picture? We pulled out the picture to show him and he said did you plant this?! Cyn read the letter from dad and he stared at the picture for a long time. He couldnt make out Truffles. Still seeing double, but sees singularly with either eye. Its his eyes converging and merging the object that is giving him difficulty it seems.
He told me yesterday that he is aware that he hallucinates, but he enjoys it sometimes because he is able to visit the past...
She also tackled my calendar issue for him with a poster board and some marker and brought painters tape. Put it up on his bathroom door in front of his bed. Marked significant days (Arlenes return and when he had to start paying out of pocket). He liked that a lot, and mentioned his dad making something similar for grammy and laughing about her writing a check and would just keep writing zero's. Also brought him one of his plethora of digital clocks for his nightstand .
Cyn gave him a shave and a mustache trim. He said okay you are leaving now right? This is his I want to sleep cue, and we abided.
Drove around downtown on a looksie adventure. Went down the crazy Lombard curvy road which is dotted with the most beautiful hydrangeas and prehistoric looking bougainvillea. Then down to tourist zone / bus land / piers where there were throngs of segway tour people in matching safety vests...hilarious looking. Took me back up into downtown and let me run in and order my eye glasses. Got a 259 frame for 79 with outrageously expensive lenses. My left eye is just shot. script hasn't' changed since Colorado, but he added something to my right eye to help with clarity in reading...Im having to do the target zone distance thing to be able to read fine print (CRY!). Significant difference....but expensive lenses nonetheless.
We drove by the Knoll office along the way but didnt realize it until we were close to past it.
Then out of there over to the golden Gate park area. She had been down to panhandle park a couple of times, and its a lot like Hyde park I guess...looooong, and smells deliciously of pine/cypress, so did golden Gate Park. TONS of people, museum has Picasso, I may go back for that later. Main road we wanted to take was barricaded for who knows why but we popped out of there and drove along what was suddenly feeling like somerville with electric bus lines in the air. Through the SF Uni campus and back around to home. Were hoping to do something with his roommate Jordan, but he was napping and then had to go to work, so she left to try to make it back before dark.
She has a mini adventure trying to take public transit to the airport in the morning, and I am officially on my own.
