9/7 Jenga

Nicky Novak picked me up close to 11am and we headed straight over to Richard.

Contrary to my initial thought that Nicky was a SERVAS contact, she is rather his foodie friend dating back to the prehistoric Compuserve group lists.  They shop together, share recipies and ideas, and explore menus together.  She takes him to the far away grocery stores to get his big bulk stuff that is too difficult to transport alone on public transit...and she misses their interaction.

He already forbid her from coming to see him, so the first thing he says is 'Didn't you get my call?'  What call?  The one where I said don't come up here..... haha.

He was curled up in a ball with his occupational therapy nurse over him taking his blood pressure...feigning sleep.  His blood pressure has been so low all day today that they didn't get him out of bed and only did little bits of therapy...even that wasn't until I returned much later in the day.

He woke up for us and spoke with Nicky about her cats and her travels.    I asked him about the 3am phone call he doesn't remember but he knows he was trying to get out of bed around midnight and the nurses were saying what the hell are you doing, where do you think you are going...theres no where to go, its midnight get your ass back in bed.

We talked about looking through the curtains to see sunlight and discern night from day.  Id still like to get him in the window bed for this reason alone.

So an hour went past quickly.  He was shoving us out saying the Chaplain was much more agreeable that his friends...our parking meter was running out anyway.

Nicky and I went down to the Richmond (suburban chinatown / Clement) and had a crazy lunch of beef ligament noodle soup, ricecakes with pork and cabbage, and a steamed lotus leaf package (my favorite).   I eeny meanie'd the menu.

Talked all about life and memories past, Mastercook software, family, past and future.  All of his close friends are so loyally devoted to him.  I think it takes a special person to 'get' Richard and all of these people certainly do, and come back for more ;).

We stopped at a Dim Sum place as we walked back to the car and I got himsome egg custards which he likes, and my dinner of a couple steamed buns and a couple of their lotus leaf packages which Im eating right now.  This lotus package doesnt hold a candle to the one at the lunch spot.  Mung beans can go to hell.  Steamed buns were great.

She dropped me off, I was ready for a nap but went to Alamo Square with Buck instead.  Nice day today - don't really need a jacket.

Back on my way to him at 3:30 and he is awake when I arrrive eating the last of the cookies from Jordan.  The troll roommate goes flying by me and jumps in my empty elevator and Richard announces he's leaving he just told me hes getting the hell out of here....the guy was literally flying the coup!  We were both pleased, I swung open the curtain richard grumbled it was two bright and I plopped myself on the trolls bed and started unpacking my bucket purse.  I brought him egg custards and some protien powder.

Nurse comes in looking for the troll I explained he just escaped and she went running after him...she came back and checked in with me telling me they had the IV drip approved for at least a couple more days...that he was urinating well and it was not as dark (Ill believe when I see) and that he was eating better.

Richard said yeah they feed me and say just one more then scoop 5 more in my mouth :p.

He saved the custards, took medicine one of which was his liquid appetite stimulant, and in cme Gina the occupational therapist again with Jenga.  His pressure is still low so they just do it on a table.  Only allowed to use his left.

the dog was Max - same dog that Cynthia saw earlier.  Hes not licensed.  Hes her adopted dog from her brother passing, and she is a recreational therapist.  Hes a cockapoo.

He did this therapy for about 15minutes.  We got a much better jive of it going on when she found a plexigalss L form, and let him stack them in threes going opposite directions up into a tower.  his arm starting getting sore and his blood pressure dropped yet again, so she let him rest, and I said goodbye.

I had planned on bringin one of these lotus packages up for breakfast, but I think Buck is going to win it as his dinner instead.  At least someone appreciates mung beans.

I saw Dr Oz last night and he has a new superantioxidant hes suggesting everyone take 8-10mg a day of.  Its called Astaxanthin.  Going to try to strum some of that up this week if I can find it.
