9/8 He's up

I have a small fire burning on a website which always seems to want to launch some new feature 2 days before season openers.  Stayed up late last night trying to fix it, and woke this am late....and ONLY got up because of Buck guilt.

Spent an hour in the park so he could evacuate the evil mung beans.  Ironically as Im describing this mung bean thing to him later today he says...oh I love those things (!!?!)  yuck.  Cold and foggy but it was burning off before our eyes.  This picture is of his favorite house in San Francisco which is on a corner of Alamo Square where I walk Buck.  I think he mostly like it for the paint job which you cant see really well but its incredibly detailed.  Nicky pointed it out to me yesterday.

Worked on my stuff, ordered some japanese food for pickup and headed over around 3p.

He was up in a chair outside his room with a table in front of him.  I said what are you doing?  He said getting points for sitting in a chair :)  He still had his IV in.  I asked if he was hungry or had eaten and I'm sure he smelled what was in my bag and he was ready to dive in.  He was clothed under his robe in shorts and a shirt like a human instead of a naked hospital patron.  He sat on the edge of the bed with his feet on the ground to eat.   I actually got a salmon and avocado roll for him and picked up my dinner at the same time.  I got some braised short ribs which came with a small salad.  He dotted the maki with wasabi and left out the soy.  Ate all but one piece.  Kept saying aren't you going to join ?  I didn't want to interfere with whatever he was going to shovel in, and truly my plan was just to take my dinner home saving me trouble later, but since he was eating so well I told him to try the short ribs.  They are thin cross cut marinated and slow cooked with a pile of onions and other stir fried veggies on top.  I love these things, and so did he.  Just ate it with his fingers and nibbled around the bones.  That was a good solid meal for him, and he liked it well enough that I just left my dinner with him with the promise he wouldn't let it sit and spoil.

His blood pressure is back to normal today.  Sitting up while eating it was slightly elevated...132/89 or something close, but I count that as better than unduly low like yesterday.  He keeps looking at the governmental looking architecture out his window and feeling like he is in Oslo.  I brought up a card that arrived in the mail here from his Servas friend Mary Jane.  Ive forgotten how hard it is to read real handwriting LOL!

I love this attending nurse.  She is very attentive and helpful. She is the same that got him on a drip for me and called me in the evening to let me know it was approved.  I asked her today about the CoQ10 and Astaxanthin supplements.  She had me write it down for her which I did. About an hour after getting home she called me to let me know she talked with the doctor and it was approved so I could bring it up whenever I got it, and they would administer it.

Bill read my blog last night and he is venturing to Rainbow market Coop with me tomorrow where we can pick up those supplements, and I can get some raw milk.  Astaxanthin is fat soluble, so he needs to take with a fatty food.  Was planning on making him a protein shake with the raw milk, but Richard said he feels too vulnerable to drink raw milk (for anyone reading this - this is ludicrous as raw has natively higher purity standards than pasteurized but I understand).  Nurse said they'd give it with breakfast, so I just need to make sure he KNOWS to eat a good breakfast.  Maybe I can find some full fat fage, as he has been eating his yogurt serving every day.  This antioxidant has the ability to penetrate the brain membrane.

Also picked up a new favorite scarf  while window shopping waiting for a bus.  I called it fate that it was there waiting for me in a Paper store of all places....seriously think it was the only scarf in the building but its adorable.  I needed it when the fog started rolling in.  Whipping wet wind at the park this evening.

Cynthia I forgot to tell you that the little street fair flags we saw flying is the annual leather daddy festival!  Im so not missing that.

  1. Good report full of good news of progress. I am sure the food and liquid intake is playing a major roll.

  2. Its a huge charity event, apparently that gets packed like New Orleans Mardi Gras. I told Richard I was going to go and he giggled at me and said he wished he was feeling better so he could go with me :)
